Rude Health a Roaring Success

A Rude Awakening was dealt at the weekend to all those who feel a visit to their GP is the start and end point of their involvement with their own health this weekend. Rude Health at the RDS was attended by the thousands that know better, that have an abiding interest in taking control of their own health and that wish to enjoy life on their own terms.

Press coverage of this year’s show was unprecedented with both the 6.01 and 9 o’clock news covering the event. The ever willing spokesperson for the IAHS (Irish Association of Health Stores) our very own Erica Murray gave a rundown of the various goings on, whilst the media took an interest in the energetic food demonstrations by the Happy Pear.

Also of great interest was the interest taken by the Irish Times in Dr Robert Verkerk of the Alliance for Natural Health – the headline on the front page of today’s I.T. Health Supplement “Risk from swine flu vaccine ‘greater than catching virus'” comes courtesy of his interview with Sylvia Thomson at the show last weekend.

Many other highlights were dotted throughout the show such as the talks by Marilyn Glenville, Patrick Holford and Prof Jane Plant, whose various insights into maintaining/regaining optimum health utilising nutritional principles were over-subscribed to put it mildly. Another great asset of this year’s show was the demonstration and lecture given by Dr Prannie Rhatigan, a medical doctor who has developed a keen interest in the nutritional benefits of seaweed. She demonstrated many great options for including this abundant, local superfood into our diets. Her new book , “The Seaweed Kitchen” which launches later this month and will be available through the Hopsack, and we are taking pre-orders currently. To avail of our promotional price of €25 (normal RRP €35) simply call the shop and place your order today!

See you all again next year – let’s hope it proves to be the same exciting forum for those of us who prioritise taking care of our health next time round!
