Organic Week 2010

Well, in terms of national press I’ve never heard a quieter Organic Week in my short time in this little organic, joy-filled bubble we call The Hopsack – but here in the shop we’re trying out some new ideas, and letting you guys try out some of our special organic goodies all week long.

On Tuesday we offered tastings of ABO – about most specialised bread makersandbakers in Britain and Ireland put together. Â With their all new Pea and Alpine Herb loaf we put some smiles on the faces of some of our most treasured coeliac customers – those poor critters don’t get much in the food world to shout about.

Today found us stuffing shopping bags to the gills with deee-lighful Pukka Herbs organic tea sample sachets. Â From Mint Sencha Green to Spiced Black Chai via some most curious and loverly flavours we may have some new converts from the auld “black stuff”. Â We even have a few left over so if you get in tomorrow you might find some warm and spicy surprise at the bottom of your shopping!

Tomorrow’s main aim is to get all our staunch advocates sporting our fetching organic cotton carrier bags = just spend €20 and you too could have our canny logo hanging on your arm.  Organic cotton, soya based inks and a great big haystack on the side will tell your friends you’re obviously in touch with your ethical consumer inside you.

Friday will see us putting some of our in-house concoctions in the form of organic ‘MISHMASH’ salads – think organic sprouts, organic sundried tomato pesto, organic olive tapenade, organic goats cheese….did I mention this was all in the name of Organic Week?

Saturday is Pack Tunch day – stick it your pocket/lunchbox/mouth and have a real good time. Â Organic dates form the base with flavours like Lemon and Lime, Apple and Cinnamon and Pineapple which should see you successfully making your workmates with their King crisps dead jealous. Â They’re all raw, gluten free and sugar free… so thoroughly virtuous and easy on the purse too!

Sunday is our Green Dreams day (thanks Laura!) when we’ll be offering some tastings of green barley grass powder in a base of coconut milk- swirly shakey and yummy tonic food – alkalising, mineral rich and loaded with good fats (MCT’s for you acronym hunters) to spark some ideas on how to improve your morning re-fuel.

Enjoy Organic Week lads and lasses, from us to you, our valued friends and customers 🙂
